The playgroup is run by a voluntary committee and is elected at the AGM in the first quarter of each academic year.
Without the committee the playgroup would not run.
We are proud of our committee they are a great asset to our Playgroup. For more information see the Committee page.
The Abbeydale Playgroup notice board is situated in the foyer.
Please read it as it contains useful information and details of topics for the week, activities and rota duties.
You will receive your bill termly. Fees are £4.50 per hour for Playgroup and £4.00 per hour for Preschool. Fees are split over monthly payments. If you have difficulty paying your fees, please see Karen Hendry in confidence, to discuss an alternative arrangement.
Coloured Group T-Shirts,
Sweatshirts and Book Bags
T-Shirts and sweatshirts are available to purchase for your child, they help your child recognise colours and helps them to belong, giving them pride in them. These can be purchased at any time. They come in red, green, yellow, and blue, according to your child's colour group, and display the Abbeydale Playgroup logo. Group Leaders wear the same T-shirts/tabards in their group colour.
For Pre-School children book bags can also be purchased allowing them to participate in the library scheme and protect art items .
No long dresses, hooded tops, attached dummies or jewellery to be worn by the children please, as these items present a safety risk during play. It would also be appreciated if the children could wear clothes that they can get dirty and manage themselves. Please ensure your child wears appropriate shoes, no flip flops, Crocs, Heeleys etc.
The children are always busy during sessions - painting, model-making etc., so please don't forget to collect these works of art at the end of the session. Your child will be very proud of their hard work. They are always labelled and laid out on the tables just inside the door, by each child’s name card.
Each child will be given a small pot with their name on it. We would be grateful if your child could bring it to Playgroup with them daily, filled (or partially filled) with any loose change you may have, and he/she will empty it into their colour group pot at 'small group' time. This is one of the ways that we raise funds to buy new equipment.
Last year we raised nearly £200 from the penny pots. This way and were able to purchase new play equipment.
If your child wears nappies, please inform us. We do not discriminate against children in nappies, but we do ask you to provide spare nappies and wipes to hang on their cloakroom hook for us to change him/her as required.
Children must arrive for their session wearing a fresh nappy as we do not want to interrupt their play time to change a nappy.

We started using Tapestry in 2017, this has enabled us to upload observation's, photos and videos of which parents are then able to login and view at home.
Details of how you can access Tapestry will be given out to parents/guardians during our welcome sessions in September.
Please click on the link below to see the EYFS framework. If you have any questions please feel free to talk to your child's Key Person or the Playleader.
